Red Square is the main square of Moscow, so it’s always full of people. Despite popular belief, there is no entry fee or tickets to Red Square. It’s open to the public 24 hours 7 days a week. The access can be limited due to celebrations and events though, especially in late April – early May when military parade and rehearsals take place.
Красная площадь – главная площадь Москвы, поэтому тут всегда многолюдно. Несмотря на распространённое мнение, на Красную площадь нет платы за вход. Она открыта для публики 24 часа – 7 дней в неделю. Но доступ может быть ограничен из-за праздников, особенно в конце апреля – начале мая, когда проходят репетиции и военный парад.

1. Red Square is definitely the most popular tourist destination in Moscow. More than 20 million people visit it every year. Red Square is a big landmark with lots of interesting places on and around it.

1. Красная площадь, безусловно, является самым популярным туристическим направлением Москвы. Ежегодно её посещают более 20 миллионов человек. Красная площадь – большая достопримечательность с интересными местами на ней и вокруг неё.

2. Kremlin is a medieval fortified complex built in 1482–1495. The former residence of tsars and later – the Soviet government, now is the residence of the President of the Russian Federation and also a museum complex. Since 1990, the Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site.

2. Кремльсредневековый укрепленный комплекс, построенный в 1482–1495 годах. Бывшая резиденция царей, а позже – советской власти, ныне резиденция президента Российской Федерации, а  также музейный комплекс. С 1990 года Московский Кремль и Красная площадь внесены в список Всемирного наследия ЮНЕСКО.

3. St Basil’s Cathedral
St Basil’s Cathedral was opened to the public in 1561 Since 1991 it serves as the State Historical Museum with occasional church services. Just in front of the church, you can see the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the men who stopped the Polish invasion in 1612 This victory put an end to the Time of Troubles, one of the darkest periods in Russian history.

3. Собор Василия Блаженного
Собор Василия Блаженного был открыт для публики в 1561 году. С 1991 года служит Государственным Историческим музеем с периодическими церковными службами. Прямо перед храмом находится памятник Минину и Пожарскому – героям, остановившим польское нашествие в 1612 году. Эта победа положила конец Смуте – одному из самых мрачных периодов в истории России.

4. GUM department store
GUM is a department store located on the Red Square right opposite Kremlin and Lenin’s Mausoleum. GUM (Gosudarstvenny Universalny Magazin) is known as State Department Store. Nowadays, GUM is serving as a luxury shopping mall with lots of different boutiques inside.

4. ГУМ
ГУМ – универмаг, расположенный на Красной площади прямо напротив Кремля и Мавзолея Ленина. ГУМ расшифровывается как Государственный универсальный магазин. Сегодня ГУМ представляет собой роскошный торговый центр с множеством разнообразных бутиков.

5. State Historical Museum
The State Historical Museum Moscow is a neo-Russian design building that was built between 1875 and 1881. This museum specialises in Russian history and has a collection of items from relics of prehistoric tribes, through priceless artworks acquired by the members of the Romanov dynasty.

5. Государственный Исторический Музей
Государственный Исторический музей – это здание в неорусском стиле было построено между 1875 и 1881 годами. Этот музей специализируется на истории России и имеет коллекцию предметов из реликвий доисторических племён, а также бесценные произведения искусства, приобретённые членами династии Романовых.

6. Zaryadye Park
Zaryadye is one of the newest parks in Moscow located in a very historical part of the city centre. It was opened in 2017 on the remains of the large Russia Hotel and it occupies 78,000 square meters of land next to Red Square.

«Зарядье» – один из новейших парков Москвы, расположенный в исторической части центра города. Открытый в 2017 году на месте большой гостиницы «Россия», «Зарядье» занимает 78 000 квадратных метров рядом с Красной площадью.

7. Nikolskaya Street
Nikolskaya st. starts from Red Square and connects it with another historical landmark – Lubyanka Square. It is one of the oldest streets in Moscow, first mentions date back to the 13th century.

7. Никольская улица
Никольская улица начинается от Красной площади и соединяет ее с другой исторической достопримечательностью – Лубянской площадью. Это одна из старейших улиц Москвы – первые упоминания относятся к XIII веку.

8. Alexander’s Garden
Founded in 1812, this park was renovated after the French invasion of Russia. Located alongside Kremlin Wall, Alexander’s Garden is home to many historical monuments and important landmarks.

8. Александровский сад
Основанный в 1812 году, этот парк был восстановлен после французского вторжения в Россию. В Александровском саду, расположенном у Кремлевской стены, находится множество исторических памятников и важных достопримечательностей.
