Rudimental – Home (feat. Sinead Harnett)

[Verse:]
Mama always said I’ll find my way back
Back home
So tell me why am I still lost in limbo
With nowhere to go
[Pre-Chorus:]
God knows I’m trying, I’m fighting to get out of here
Oh but sometimes it’s hard not to give into fear
I build myself up ‘cause I want it so much
I need to break free
[Chorus:]
I’m headed for somewhere else
‘Cause it’s a long way home
Courage to carry on
I’ve got to be oh so strong
‘Cause it’s a long way home
[Verse:]
Mama always said I’ll find my way back
Back home
So tell me why am I still lost in limbo
With nowhere to go
[Pre-Chorus:]
[Chorus:]

[Chorus 2:]
I’m headed for somewhere else
I’m guessing the time will tell
‘Cause it’s a long way home
Courage to carry on
And now I got to be oh so strong
‘Cause it’s a long way home
I’m headed for somewhere else
But it’s a long way home
Courage to carry on
‘Cause it’s a long way home

Richard Marx – Now and Forever

Whenever I’m weary from the battles that
rage in my head
You make sense of madness when
my sanity hangs by a thread
I lose my way but still you seem
to understand
Now and forever I will be your man.

Sometimes I just hold you
Too caught up in me to see
I’m holding a fortune that heaven
has given to me
I’ll try to show you
each and every way I can
Now and forever I will be your man

Now I can rest my worries
and always be sure
That I won’t be alone anymore
If I’d only known you were there
all the time
All this time
Until the day the ocean doesn’t
touch the sand
Now and forever I will be your man

Rag’n’bone man – Human

Maybe I’m foolish, maybe I’m blind
Thinking I can see through this
and see what’s behind
Got no way to prove it
so maybe I’m blind

But I’m only human after all,
I’m only human after all
Don’t put your blame on me

Take a look in the mirror
and what do you see?
Do you see it clearer or are you
deceived in what you believe?

Cos I’m only human after all,
you’re only human after all
Don’t put the blame on me
Don’t put your blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above!
I’m only human after all,
I’m only human after all
Don’t put the blame on me
Don’t put the blame on me

Don’t ask my opinion,
don’t ask me to lie
Then beg for forgiveness
for making you cry, making you cry

Cos I’m only human after all,
I’m only human after all
Don’t put your blame on me,
don’t put the blame on me

Some people got the real problems
Some people out of luck
Some people think I can solve them
Lord heavens above
I’m only human after all,
I’m only human after all
Don’t put the blame on me
Don’t put the blame on me

I’m only human I make mistakes
I’m only human that’s all it takes
to put the blame on me
Don’t put your blame on me

I’m no prophet or messiah
Should go looking somewhere higher
I’m only human after all
I’m only human after all
Don’t put the blame on me
Don’t put the blame on me
I’m only human, I do what I can
I’m just a man, I do what I can
Don’t put the blame on me
Don’t put your blame on me

Ed Sheeran – Perfect

I found a love for me
Oh darling, just dive right in and follow my lead

Well, I found a girl, beautiful and sweet

Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me
Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was

I will not give you up this time
But darling, just kiss me slow, your heart is all I own

And in your eyes, you’re holding mine

[Chorus]
Baby, I’m dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favourite song

When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

Well I found a woman, stronger than anyone I know

She shares my dreams, I hope that someday I’ll share her home
I found a love, to carry more than just my secrets

To carry love, to carry children of our own

We are still kids, but we’re so in love

Fighting against all odds
I know we’ll be alright this time
Darling, just hold my hand

Be my girl, I’ll be your man
I see my future in your eyes

[Chorus]
[Chorus]

Imagine Dragons – Believer

First things first
I’mma (must) say all the words inside my head
I’m fired up and tired of the way that things have been, oh-ooh
The way that things have been, oh-ooh
Second thing second
Don’t you tell me what you think that I can be
I’m the one at the sail, I’m the master of my sea, oh-ooh
The master of my sea, oh-ooh
I was broken from a young age
Taking my sulking into the masses
Write down my poems for the few
That looked at me, took to me, shook to me, feeling me
Singing from heart ache from the pain
Take up my message from the veins
Speaking my lesson from the brain
Seeing the beauty through the…
[Chorus]
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Pain!
You break me down, you build me up, believer, believer
Pain!
I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain
My luck, my love, my God, they came from…
Pain!
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer
Third things third
Send a prayer to the ones up above
All the hate that you’ve heard has turned your
spirit to a dove, oh-ooh
Your spirit up above, oh-ooh
I was choking in the crowd
Living my brain up in the cloud
Falling like ashes to the ground
Hoping my feelings, they would drown
But they never did, ever lived,
ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like…
[Chorus]
Last things last
By the grace of the fire and the flames
You’re the face of the future, the blood
in my veins, oh-ooh
The blood in my veins, oh-ooh
But they never did, ever lived,
ebbing and flowing
Inhibited, limited
Till it broke up and it rained down
It rained down, like…
[Chorus]

Volhvovski – the singer who makes you feel excited!

Just by chance, my friend sent me a link to the event 11/08 :: VOLHVOVSKI/ acoustic live (https://vk.com/volhvovski_kkp) – I saw a small playlist and thought maybe it’s not serious, but when I played the music, my first thought was that this singer comes from Canada or USA and she is a native English speaker with huge experience, but in the end it turned out that she is originally from Russia and has a really big talent! Interestingly, I played her music “Knights&Whales” to my another friend and asked him: “what do you think?” His first question was: “This is a soundtrack to one movie, right?”… (! I think her songs can be soundtracks to future blockbusters!) He was quite amazed when I told him that this singer is from Voronezh. He said that he wouldn’t be amazed if this song had 100-500 thousand views on YouTube! He was almost right about soundtrack… the next song in the playlist was an original brand song to all Huawei smartphones “Dream It Possible” by Delacey – and my friend thought that this is the same singer:) this coincidence only highlights that Volhvovski has a huge potential to be the next Music Star! EnglishMag couldn’t miss such a great chance to have an interview with her!

I wanted to write you a song
But all the lyrics seem to be wrong for you
I wrote it, I crossed it, I wrote it
Over and over again
It’s a stupid feeling
When you’re like a poet
that’s giving his heart to a princess
Of the castle, he went to and stayed by
and spent the night
But I’m just a girl

But tongue knots get totally untied
You’re still gonna be by my side, and I
I’m gonna forget just who we used to be

Chorus:
Because we have the knights that fight
For the castle that we used to hide
And there’s the only one thing on my mind
That I’d fight for – is to have you beside
And there’re the whales that dive
And the waves of the ocean shrine
And we could live on the ship between them
And I’m fine with it, whatever is fine, till it’s you
Till it’s you

2.
I think I’m moving to some next step,
Next life, next fight
Help me make it pretty right
Cause I know I can rely on you
Dragons are flying in the sky, there’s the fire
But I know I’ll be fine
With you I’ll be okay
All this time I was scared to say

2.

But now tongue knots get totally untied
You’re still gonna be by my side, and I
I’m gonna forget just who we used to be

Tip: This song has very good rhythm, try to read the lyrics first and then listen! This way you will be training your listening skills and will activate new vocabulary ;)

You’re refusing me
Just like I’m rotten
But never cling to stop it
Soothing me
Again, oh, God, and
It’s blurry, won’t you sharp it

More

Больше

I’m unseen
Wherever your step goes
The question’s all around my mind
My self-esteem
Is under your toes
And though I know that’s not right

Chorus:
More,
Without chances
Without any waitings
I want more
The consequences
Never make me worry
Give me more
The past, the later
I am now the fader
But I’ve got more
I’m scared tomorrow
You may change your mind
So let’s go back

2.
Saying this
I sign the judgement
But all I want’s what you want
I’m on my knees
You seem so large
And I’m willing for those your stunts
More

2.

Jazz Province 2018 + interviews with Stooges Brass Band & Steve Kershaw

Jazz Province is an international festival of contemporary Jazz and improvisational music. It is usually held in Autumn, probably to make the viewers’ autumn mood even brighter. This annual festival has been organized since 1996 by jazz pianist Leonid Vintskevich. Such a musical event inspired jazz life in many provincial cities, that is why it is called “Jazz Province”. Over the years, the festival route ran through various cities of the European part of Russia and every year they invite unusual guests from abroad to show what true jazz is like. One of these marvellous groups this year became the Stooges Brass Band. The Stooges Brass Band is one of the most famous brass bands in New Orleans. The band makes a mixture of true old traditional New Orleans sounds, contemporary jazz and modern hip-hop beats. The Band makes the audience dance even where (it would seem that) it is impossible according to etiquette, for example, Voronezh Philarmony  ;)

Made by Svetlana Kustovinova and Anastasia Rodina

Stooges Brass Band had a great performance in the Voronezh Filarmony at “Jazz Province” festival on 26 Oct 2018

The Stooges Brass Band has earned their rank as one of the elite brass bands in New Orleans. The band consistently provides a welcome blast of true New Orleans spirit engaging audiences with their innovative blend of traditional New Orleans brass sounds, contemporary jazz and hip-hop beats.

Emerging onto the scene in 1996, the Stooges Brass Band has gained notoriety as a full-blown musical party immersing the crowd in a cut-loose vibe that is contemporary yet deeply rooted in the culturally rich musical legacy of New Orleans. The band has shared the stage with: Ozomatli, Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli), Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Shemekia Copeland, Pedrito Martinez Group, Galactic, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Funky Meters, and Jessica Simpson, among others.

Since 1996 the team squad has been gradually changed, but the curator Walter has made a decision that year: “If somebody really wants to play jazz and to be a part of New Orleans jazz, they will be in the team!”  This way, “A” team and “B” team of The Stooges Brass Band were formed. While “A” team are performing in Voronezh, “B” team is having the concert in New Orleans. The band continues to tour performing at venues and appearing at famed festivals throughout the country such as New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, Utah Arts Festival, Discover Jazz, American Folk Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Great American Brass Band Festival, and more. The Stooges Brass Band has also answered the call to serve as cultural ambassadors and were employed by the US Embassy to tour Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Other international appearances include the Edinburgh Jazz Festival, the Durham Brass Festival in the UK and Nuits D’Afrique, Tremblant Blues Festival in Canada.

ESPN took notice of the Stooges Brass Band’s talent and enthusiasm and recruited them to produce them songs for various segments including college game day, basketball highlights and NCAA sports. MTV and BET have also used their music on air, proving yet again that the music of the Stooges Brass Band has a universally pleasing quality that makes them a favorite amongst generations of fans.

Stooges Brass Band

Группа делила сцену с: Ozomatli, Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli), Busta Rhymes, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, Shemekia Copeland, Pedrito Martinez Group, Galactic, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Ave, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Funky Meters, Jessica Simpson и другие.

New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, South by Southwest, Utah Arts Festival, Discover Jazz, American Folk Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Great American Brass Band Festival и других.

How did you start your music career?
(Anastasia Rodina, EnglishMag interviewer)

Steve Kershaw: Whoo… I started with music at home, really. My father played piano a little bit and trumpet and there were always jazz sounds in the house and I heard a great jazz bass player Ray Brown on a television program with Oscar Peterson, and I just thought “yes, that’s my thing! That’s what I want to do”. The double bass the sound, the feel and everything about it. I was very lucky that I lived in a place where it was possible to get music lessons easily. So I was able to get a bass, find a teacher and start to play. I started to study classical music, but just learned to play jazz by listening and was playing with my father, playing with other people.

Do you make your music yourself?

Yes, I do. I write my own music. All of the tunes that we’ll play for tonight’s (show) have been written by us.

Can you play any other instruments?

I play bass guitar but it’s all just basics. I sing excruciatingly badly. I can badly tinkle on the piano. But no, that’s the answer.

I know that you are teaching at Oxford. You teach Latin, Greek, Ancient Rome. Are you interested in history?

True, yeah. I’m very interested in this I always have been and I’ve always done some sort of history and music together side by side. Yeah, it’s something that’s important to me something I enjoy very much.

Is music your hobby or your work?

It’s both. It is my work, it’s important for my living. It puts food on my table, it feeds my dog, it feeds my wife.

Do you choose a clear planning or spontaneous decisions and improvisation?

Sometimes the ideas just come from nowhere, sometimes I might be, you know, walking with the dog and I get an idea. Sometimes I might be just sitting with my bass and I will play something which could be good or I hear an interesting rhythm. So inspiration comes from different places.

Could you give a piece of advice for jazz beginners?

There are two things: 1) you have to listen and listen and listen to as much music as you can of the great masters of jazz not just your own instrument but everything listen to as many people as possible to be excited and inspired. 2) and then you have to you practice hard and I think you have this very difficult thing, but you must not be afraid of failing. You know, if you make mistakes you have to be good, because now I won’t do that again and it might make me, might send me in a new direction. So don’t be afraid of failure and listen as much as you can.

And do you remember any funny or curious cases from concerts or rehearsals?….

–    Oh, these things happen all the time. Once, when I was playing in the classical Orchestra, we came to a great piece in the music and then – the bass. So, instead of silence there was a loud noise of my double bass.

Did you dream about being a musician or a teacher while being a child?
–    I probably dreamt about being a musician, but not a teacher. I started teaching by accident and then realized that it was something that I enjoy very much. Actually, much more than I expected to.

What superpower would you like to have if you were a superhero?
–    I’d like to be able to travel through time, because I’m interested in history and because jazz used to be much more popular some years ago.

What is the most pleasant part of your job?
–    Ooh… I think it’s partly because of traveling, I like traveling just for traveling, I like it with the music and I like it because there’s something special about being on stage with great musicians, but I also like just the camaraderie of being together with great people which you like and enjoy. You know, yes, it’s about many things. The fun of playing together is a very special thing. The fun we have off the stage as well as on the stage.

What is your attitude to our country?
–    I really have good memories and good feelings for it. I’ve been traveling to Russia more than 15 years now and what is so nice is that the people that we’ve met have always been friendly, warm, welcoming. Voronezh is I think is a wonderful place for Jazz festival. People here have always been really really nice, hospitable, welcoming. My feelings about Russia in general, Voronezh in particular, is very positive.

How do you relax?
–    Partly by listening to some music. But it’s not always efficient. Certainly walking my dog.

Can you relax while making music?
–    In some way yes, but it’s less of a relaxation than I need. You know, I need to do it. We just do it because it is who we are. I’m writing two books that I need to finish. One is about Roman history and one is for children about Greek, which is a new challenge for me.

Are you going to have a new release?
–    I hope that next year we’ll be making a new record with new CD with Leonid and Nick.

What was your first success in music?
–    It is a nice story. When I was maybe about 16 I’ve been playing bass a little bit and my teacher offered me a job. It was to play double bass in a local theatrical production. I know I was good enough at that time and so I went to play and it was for a week. I was playing enjoyable music, good songs and I was good, I felt confident about that. At the end of the week they gave me money and, you know, I thought it was a real success. I had a lovely time and they give me money for doing what I love.  I just started to do gigs. There was never a big moment of success or making it. I think it’s a piece of a process that I hope continues.

How much time do you need to write one piece of music?
–    It depends entirely on the music. Sometimes the ideas are very fast, sometimes I write a tune in five minutes and sometimes I might work and work and work and work and it might take six hours.

As I promised, I will try to make a blog about Canada, Toronto in general, and places which I visit. The first week was quiet, moderate, without many new places, just getting used to the usual Canada’s conditions – the weather was quite interesting! The second week in Canada was a lot more exciting! Finally, I visited Toronto’s downtown, saw and swam in Huron Lake and had a small camping there, got acquainted with the Canadian prices better, borrow some books and magazines from the local library, which is really great, and had a ride on the bike above Highway… and even saw a scarecrow and Happy Canada Day!

You will know some interesting details under the topic photo

– got one interesting job, but about that maybe later;) “tennis is in our blood” motto of one company

Canada’s blog. Week 4. ??

Today I was able to visit downtown for the second time. What can I say… Eaton centre, from where I had VK live stream, is really big… We had also quite big shopping malls in Voronezh, but here they bigger and more interesting. Toronto Eaton Centre has 4 main floors and 3 in the underground (subway) level. You can even feel a little bit with your feet when the trains go near somewhere else in the underground.
By the way, if you go to such big shopping centres, you need to have 4 hours in advance. I needed to find good, not expensive t-shirts, tennis shorts and some good sneakers (sports shoes) and that all took me full four hours, and overall I visited only about 7-10 stores (just think how much time it would take to visit every store and just to get familiar with some items⏱?) https://www.cfshops.com/toronto-eaton-centre.html
Finally, I ended buying two interesting t-shirts and no shorts and no sneakers) I found one really nice tennis shorts but the price $80 + tax(13%) is quite expensive by Russian standards?… Interesting, but there were only 3 pairs of tennis shoes in the whole Eaton centre… but a lot of running and basketball shoes⛹. What’s more interesting there were no tennis shoes even in the Adidas centre?

Sorry for being a little bit late than usual, but finally want to share with you some stories of the last weeks.

Canada’s blog??. Week 8 in Montreal. (part 1)

A trip to the mountain” or “Haste makes waste”
It was very interesting how I got to the Mountain Royal in Montreal! Yes, there is a mountain, a big hill, in the city itself!
It was already getting dark when I decided to go on the mountain. There are different routes how it’s possible to get to the top of Mt. (Mountain) Royal and I needed the shortest route because I wanted to get there before it was dark. So I asked people how I can get there and they told me to go straight and then climb the stairs…
There was also a serpentine road to the top, it was not straight and I found it too long. When I was running along this road I saw a steep short path (or it looked like a path)) and I thought that this path would get me to the mountain faster. So I followed this steep path and I saw a lot of obstacles (препятствия) on the path – rocks, big plants… and finally, the path ended soon. But I was quite high at that moment and it was getting dark a lot faster that time and there were a lot of hidden rocks under the plants. So if I had hurt my leg, nobody would have come for help because I was quite high and far away from people. But with God’s help, I managed to climb down back on the road – I had really dirty hands, but I was really happy :)
Then I followed the road, saw the stairs and finally got to the mountain! I was unable to make good photos with sunset, but I was able to make good night photos with the moon )
Anyway, the moral of this story is that “haste makes waste” (спешка тратит время; рус.

Glossary:
would get there – добрался бы туда
decide – решить

along the road – вдоль дороги
a short path – короткая тропа
steep [stiːp] крутой (подьем)
steep mountain — крутая гора
follow – следовать
hidden [hidn] спрятанный
plants – растения
if I had hurt my leg, nobody would have come for help – если бы я повредил ногу, никто бы не пришел на помощь (условное, уже невозможное предложение (3) Conditional)
far away from people – далеко от людей

Canada’s blog. Week 8 (Part 2)??

it was really the most exciting and lively week I have ever had in Canada! Too many new places, too many new events! Thanks to God, everything was great!
First of all, the secret that I was keeping – I got the media accreditation to one of the biggest tennis tournaments, Rogers Cup ???? – it is fairly named as Canada Open amongst US Open and Australian Open, Big Slam tournaments! Rogers Cup is being held in 2 cities – this year men played in Montreal and women in Toronto. I was lucky to be in both cities!
It was my first trip to Montreal and I really liked that city in spite of my “zero level” in French? (there were some funny situations with that: when I was leaving the tournament, in stead of saying “take care/good bye” in French I said “bonjour” in half-voice? I took some great photos of the city too and I had a really big challenge climbing one mountain, but that you can read in Part 1)
Interesting, nevertheless, Montreal is the city of Quebec French province, where two official languages, everything is written in French only – but the same goes with Toronto, where everything is written in English (public transport, shops, not sure about all cafes). But, at the same time, almost everybody can speak English. I only met two people who couldn’t speak English.
I had only 3 nights and 4 days in Montreal, but the time really flew by and it wasn’t enough to know the city better! I got to Montreal by train on Monday and went back to Toronto on Thursday by bus, which is 2 times cheaper, but not so convenient. I booked the apartment on
On the tournament, I was even lucky to get acquainted with Russian sparring tennis players and had even access to players’ locker-room?
The only thing which disappointed me in Montreal is that I saw only one winning match with our Russian players. Karen Khachanov won doubles match with Domick Thiem. All other our players lost in their first round….
To see the best players, Federer and Nadal, and many other great players, Monfils, Tsonga, Del Potro… and not from the spectators’ view, but from the photo pit, it’s valueless experience! Please see more pictures in the photo albums)
The second part of the week, from Friday till Sunday I spent at women’s Rogers Cup. And the great results come in the end of the tourney! Our Katya Makarova and Lena Vesnina won doubles final easily with 6/0 6/4 score (having the interview with the champions prior to their victory was a real privilege)
ATP Rogers Cup final in Montreal was also interesting and a bit surprising, but not for me – Alexander Zverer defeated tennis legend Roger Federer 6/3 6/4. Interesting fact, Zverev won the tournament, but he was just one point away from quitting the tournament in the second round – Richard Gasquet had 3 match-points and failed to take advantage of that.
I was lucky enough to speak with Sasha Zverev after the match and asked him a few questions: before that match there were 2 matches that day when players came back after match-points to win the match – Monfils saved 4 match-points against 5th seed Nishikori, and Shapovalov had saved 4 match-points in the first round and advanced to the semi-final afterwards. So, my question to Sasha Zverev was if he thought about those matches in his head when facing match-points against Gasquet. His answer you can hear in the audio file Zverev attached to the post. I was also lucky enough to speak to women’s singles champion, Elina Svitolina, at the press conference (see the audio “Svitolina” attached).

P.S. Sorry for those who are absolutely not interested in tennis, but I think you all can find interesting things in this post;)

fairly – заслуженно, честно

Can’t be the season
Cuz whether it’s spring,
Summer, winter or fall
I’m doggone lazy, that’s all

I know that I should
Go earn my livin’
Baby, I would consent to giving
To work all day long like some folks do
If I didn’t have so much resting to do
People say “you know, you aint good for nothing”.
Well it’s just that nothing’s good for me
I had a man, he was really something
But making love took too much of my…
Energy

I’m lazy, that’s all
I know it’s true
I’m lazy, that’s all
So I’m telling you
Forget all my

Cuz I know my own

And I’m just a
To who was born to be
Oh, so daggorn lazy
That’s all

Well, my momma say
You know child, you just aint good for nothing
Well, momma it’s just that nothing’s so good

Well I had a man
He was really something!
But making love took too much of my…
Oghr!

Woohoo…

Yeah people, I’m so lazy
Forget all my silk cold ability
Cuz I know my own capacity
And I’m just a of who was born to be

I’m lazy, that’s all.

Lyrics (текст песни) “Bring it Back” by Catherine Russell

Translation in Russian “Bring it Back” by Catherine Russell

Bring it back home pretty baby
Need you
I don’t mean maybe

If you bring it back baby
Everything’s gonna be alright

I been oh so lonely
Cause I want you only
And when you bring it back baby
I won’t sing the blues no more

I love you like you love me
We make a real fine pair
But ain’t nothin’ shakin’
When the dawn starts breakin’
With me over here and you over there

Bring it back
Let’s get together
Just like birds of a feather
If you bring it back baby
Everything’s gonna be alright

I love you like you love me
We make a real fine pair
But ain’t nothin’ shakin’
When the dawn starts breakin’
With me over here and you over there

Bring it back
Let’s get together
Just like birds of a feather
If you bring it back baby
Everything’s gonna be alright

Under this mighty sky.
Above this precious ground.
I need you once again.
I love it when you come around.
The sence, and the sound.
Change ending breaths
Please come again
Make it easy, easy
Changes in the air
Your reaches everywhere
I wonna hear you speak
Do come here.

You make it easy
Oh come along
Don’t go to the star
Just be easy, easy
Oh come alone
Don’t go to the round

We don’t need a word to say
No we don’t need a word to say
Sunshine above your face
When sunshine above your face

We don’t care we all so away
We don’t care we all so away
Leaves to another day
Leaves to another day’

“Marina and the diamonds (Diamandis)” the most popular singer

Marina Lambrini Diamandis, commonly known as Marina and the Diamonds, has been active in the industry for over ten years. After bursting onto the indie-pop scene with the release of her debut album, The Family Jewels, the singer has released thirteen singles and an additional two studio albums.

“Savages” is a song by Welsh singer-songwriter MARINA off of her third studio album, Froot. This track was represented by orange with “Gold” on her official website but is combined with “Weeds” as a green apple ‘Froot’ on Vinyl.

Background and composition

While “Savages” was originally written in disgust after reading about the Boston Bombings in a newspaper, as Diamandis heard multiple news stories about rape, the song evolved into a discussion about whether these crimes are inherently human instead of just condemnation of them

Savages       [‘sævɪʤes]

[Verse 1]
Murder lives forever and so does war
It’s survival of the fittest, rich against the poor
At the end of the day, it’s a human trait
Hidden deep down inside of our DNA

[Verse 2]
One man can build a bomb, another, run a race
To save somebody’s life and have it blow up in his face
I’m not the only one who finds it hard to understand
I’m not afraid of God, I am afraid of man

[Pre-Chorus 1]
Is it running in our blood, is it running in our veins?
Is it running in our genes, is it in our DNA?
Humans aren’t gonna behave as we think we always should
Yeah, we can be bad as we can be good

[Chorus]
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
How could we expect anything at all?
We’re just animals still learning how to crawl

[Verse 3]
We live, we die, we steal, we kill, we lie
Just like animals, but with far less grace
We laugh, we cry, like babies in the night
Forever running wild in the human race

[Verse 4]
Another day, another tale of rape
Another ticking bomb to bury deep and detonate
I’m not the only one who finds it hard to understand
I’m not afraid of God, I am afraid of man

[Pre-Chorus 2]
You can see it on the news
You can watch it on TV
You can read it on your phone
You can say it’s troubling
Humans aren’t gonna behave as we think we always should
Yeah, we can be bad as we can be good

[Chorus]
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
How could we expect anything at all?
We’re just animals still learning how to crawl
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
Truth is in us all, cradle to the grave
We’re just animals still learning to behave

[Bridge]
All the hate coming out from a generation
Who got everything and nothing, guided by temptation
Were we born to abuse, shoot a gun and run
Or has something deep inside of us come undone?
Is it a human trait or is it learned behaviour?
Are you killing for yourself or killing for your saviour?

[Chorus]
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
How could we expect anything at all?
We’re just animals still learning how to crawl
Underneath it all, we’re just savages
Hidden behind shirts, ties, and marriages
Truth is in us all, cradle to the grave
We’re just animals still learning to behave

Marina Diamandis: Ways to change the world (video)

Marina Diamandis, formerly known by her stage name Marina & The Diamonds, has topped the charts with music that blends powerful pop with an indie sound. Her songs have tackled female stereotypes, rape culture and the frivolity of fame – but the last album was in 2015. Marina took three years off and went to study psychology and attachment theory. Now back with a new album, she talks to Krishnan about her return to music, how political events have influenced her writing and how the media should change the way they treat women.

The Golden Age of podcasts

The 1930s and ’40s, the era of Jack Benny, “The Shadow” and Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds,” has been referred to as the Golden Age of Radio. Today, we’re living in the Golden Age of Podcasts.

A podcast is like a pre-recorded radio show that you can listen to on your phone as you commute, do errands, cook, or work out.

Matt Lieber and Alex Blumberg, who have backgrounds in public radio, are the cofounders of Gimlet Media. “Podcasts are available on demand,” said Lieber. “So in the same way you can go watch Netflix shows any time you want, you can listen to our podcasts any time you want.”

They like to think of Gimlet as the HBO of podcast studios. Its 120 employees produce 24 podcast shows, in 13 state-of-the-art recording studios.

Podcasts are free, paid for by ads or sponsorship. And there are a lot of podcasts – at last count, more than 630,000 different podcasts on every conceivable topic. Want to hear about knitting? A search will get you dozens of podcasts, from Yarniacs and Never Not Knitting, to Knitting Pipeline, to Two Ewes Fiber Adventures.

“The shows that are popular right now go across all categories,” said Lieber. “But people love crime! They love true crime,” as in the podcast Crimetown. “There are also more kids shows today.” (Like Chompers.)

News is a bigger category, and The Daily, a 25-minute news podcast that The New York Times releases every morning at 6 a.m., is one of the most popular shows. “The Daily” has turned host Michael Barbaro into a minor celebrity. “So when I bump into people on the subway and they say, ‘Are you Michael? Do you host ‘The Daily?’ I want to know everything about how they listen, when they listen, when it fits into people’s lives, because they have such a strong connection to the show,” Barbaro said.

Love songs for your darlings

One of the most memorable ways to tell someone you’re falling in love with them is through music.

If you’re not into writing your own tune, you should consider checking out these tracks to show just how much you care.

Whether you prefer a romantic ballad or beautiful collaboration, your love interest is certain to be falling just as hard for you after giving a listen to any of these songs.

It’s safe to say anyone would love to be the muse behind an affectionate love song.

Stereo Dub feat Karen Souza – Safe and Sound

I could lift you up
I could show you what you wanna see
And take you where you wanna be
You could be my luck
Even if the sky is falling down
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
I could fill your cup
You know my river won’t evaporate
This world we still appreciate
You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
Safe and sound
I could show you love
In a tidal wave of mystery
You’ll still be standing next to me
You could be my luck
Even if we’re six feet underground
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
I could fill your cup
You know my river won’t evaporate
This world we still appreciate
You could be my luck
Even in a hurricane of frowns
I know that we’ll be safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound
Safe and sound
We’re safe and sound

Will You Marry Me?

I think I’ve waited long enough,
Let enough time go by,
To know just what I need in my life.
When I look at you right now,
My heart is telling me why,
You’re the only one for me.
An’ tonight, if you let me ask you this,
With Heaven as my witness:

Will you marry me?
I wanna be with you for all eternity.
I swear my love for you will always be.
Here, on bended knee,
Baby, I’m asking, please,
Will you marry me?

All that I see in your eyes,
Let me save deep inside,
‘Cause I don’t wanna lose one moment of you.
Lookin’ like the picture in my dreams,
One that I see comin’ true.
‘Cause you’re dreamin’ the same dream I do.
Please let me ask you this,
All of Heaven as my witness:

Will you marry me?
I wanna be with you for all eternity.
I swear my love for you will always be.
Here, on bended knee,
Baby, I’m asking, please,
Will you marry me?

You’re the only thing I’ve ever been this sure of.
More than anything I’ve ever wanted before.

Will you marry me?
I wanna be with you for all eternity.
I swear my love for you will always be.
Here, on bended knee,
Baby, I’m asking, please,
Will you marry me?
Will you marry me?

Oh.
(Will you marry me?)
Will you marry me?
(I wanna be with you for all eternity.)
Be with you.
(I swear my,) love for you will always be.
Right here, on bended knee,
Oh, baby, I’m asking, please,
Will you marry me?

Taylor Swift released her seventh album on August 23, 2019

On Jimmy Fallon, Taylor stated that she toyed around with naming the album Daylight, before she wrote “Lover”. On her Instagram live on June 13, 2019, Taylor announced that the album would be called Lover and that the second single, released on June 14, 2019 at midnight EST, is called “You Need to Calm Down”. There are four deluxe editions of the album, which are available at Target. The deluxe editions include voice memos of two of her favorite songs from the album, “I Forgot That You Existed” and “Lover”.

Swift talked about the album at the 2018 American Music Awards: “I always look at albums as chapters in my life,” she said:

“And to the fans, I’m so happy that you like this one… But I have to be really honest with you about something: I’m even more excited about the next chapter.”

She also stated at the iHeartRadio Music Awards:

“I just wanted to let you know, when there is new music, you will be the first to know.”

On February 24th, 2019, Taylor posted a photo of seven palm trees on her Instagram, which, in her Entertainment Weekly interview, she confirmed was posted on the date that she finished the album.

Taylor will tour worldwide in the first half of 2020.[1]

I blew things out of proportion
Now you’re blue
Put you in jail for something you didn’t do
I pinned your hands behind your back, oh
Thought I had reason to attack, but no

Fighting with a true love
Is boxing with no gloves
Chemistry ’til it blows up, ’til there’s no us
Why’d I have to break what I love so much?
It’s on your face
And I’m to blame
I need to say

Hey, it’s all me, in my head
I’m the one who burned us down
But it’s not what I meant
Sorry that I hurt you
I don’t wanna do, I don’t wanna do this to you
I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna lose this with you
I need to say, hey, it’s all me, just don’t go
Meet me in the afterglow

It’s so excruciating to see you low
Just wanna lift you up and not let you go
This ultraviolet morning light below
Tells me this love is worth the fight, oh

I lived like an island
Punished you with silence
Went off like sirens, just crying
Why’d I have to break what I love so much
It’s on your face
Don’t walk away, I need to say

Hey, it’s all me, in my head
I’m the one who burned us down
But it’s not what I meant
I’m sorry that I hurt you
I don’t wanna do, I don’t wanna do this to you
I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna lose this with you
I need to say, hey, it’s all me, just don’t go
Meet me in the afterglow

Tell me that you’re still mine
Tell me that we’ll be just fine
Even when I lose my mind
I need to say
Tell me that it’s not my fault
Tell me that I’m all you want
Even when I break your heart
I need to say

Hey, it’s all me, in my head
I’m the one who burned us down
But it’s not what I meant
Sorry that I hurt you
I don’t wanna do, I don’t wanna do this to you
I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna lose this with you
I need to say, hey, it’s all me, just don’t go
Meet me in the afterglow

Prince EA – Sorry (25+ million views)

Prince Ea, has touched the hearts, minds and souls of millions of people worldwide. By producing creative, inspirational and thought provoking content, Prince has accumulated over 1 billion views on Facebook alone and even more on a combination of other platforms.

He really wants to share with all the people what really matters for the planet, and the topic of
Climate Change and Importance to change ecology situation for the better is in his blood. His Apology Letter to Future Generations “Sorry” hit more than 30M views in total and we really want to share this:

Dear Future Generations,
I think I speak for the rest of us when I say
Sorry. Sorry, we left you our mess of a planet.
Sorry that we were too caught up in our own doings to do something.
Sorry, we listened to people who made excuses,
to do nothing.
I hope you forgive us,
we just didn’t realize how special the earth was,
like a marriage going wrong,
we didn’t know what we had until it was gone.
For example,
I’m guessing you probably know
what is the Amazon Desert, right?
Well, believe it or not,
it was once called the Amazon Rainforest,
and there were billions of trees there,
and all of them gorgeous and…
Oh, you don’t know much about trees, do you?
Well let me tell you that trees are amazing,
I mean, we literally breathe the air
they are creating, they clean up our pollution,
our carbon, they store and purify water,
give us medicine that cures our diseases, food that feeds us.
Which is why I am so sorry, to tell you that,
we burned them down.
Cut them down with brutal machines, horrific,
at a rate of 40 football fields every minute,
that’s 50% of all the trees in the world all gone
in the last 100 years.
Why? For this [shows 100 dollar banknote].
And that wouldn’t make me so sad,
if there weren’t so many pictures of leaves on it.
You know when I was a child,
I read how the Native Americans had such consideration,
for the planet that they felt responsible,
for how they left the land for the next 7 generations.
Which brings me great sorrow,
because most of us today,
don’t even care about tomorrow.
So I’m sorry, I’m sorry that we put profit above people,
greed above need, the rule of gold above the golden rule.
I’m sorry we used nature as a credit card with no spending limit,
over drafting animals to extinction,
stealing your chance to ever see their uniqueness,
or become friends with them.
Sorry, we poison the ocean so much that you can’t even swim in them.
But most of all, I’m sorry about our mindset,
cause we had the nerve to call this destruction,
progress.
Hey Fox News, if you don’t think climate change is a threat.
I dare you to interview the thousands of homeless people in Bangladesh,
see while you was in your penthouse nestle,
their homes were literally washed away
beneath their feet due to the rising sea levels,
and Sara Palin, you said that you love the smell of fossil fuels,
well I urge you to talk to the kids of Beijing
who are forced to wear pollution masks just to go to school.
You see you can ignore this, but the thing about truth is,
it can be denied, not avoided.
So I’m sorry future generation,
I’m sorry that our footprints became a sinkhole and not a garden.
I’m sorry that we paid so much attention to ISIS,
and very little how fast the ice is melting in the arctic.
I’m sorry we doomed you
and I’m sorry we couldn’t find another planet in time to move to.
I am s…
You know what, cut the beat, I’m not sorry.
This future I do not accept it,
because an error does not become a mistake,
until you refuse to correct it,
we can redirect this, how?
Let me suggest that if a farmer sees a tree that is unhealthy,
they don’t look at the branches to diagnosis it,
they look at the root, so like that farmer,
we must look at the root,
and not to the branches of the government,
not to the politicians runs by corporations
we are the root, we are the foundation,
this generation,
it is up to us to take care of this planet.
It is our only home, we must globally warm our hearts
and change the climate of our souls
and realize that we are not apart from nature,
we are a part of nature,
and to betray nature is to betray us,
to save nature, is to save us,
because whatever you’re fighting for,
Racism, poverty, feminism rights,
or any type of equality.
It won’t matter in the least,
because if we don’t all work together to save the environment,
we will be equally extinct.
[Sorry in the background].

Fox News,
