Before approaching Lipetsk, in 100 kilometres, there is a beautiful Nature Park “Oleniy”. The park’s 1,500 hectares are used to restore and increase the number of rare and valuable species of European fauna. The name of the park itself says it all – who is the main owner of these vast territories. Of course, the deer. The red deer and spotted deer are perfectly adapted to the local climate. On beautiful meadows and among birch glades, one can also see European roe deer, fallow deer and moufflons, which were brought here for adaptation and breeding. There are no artificial enclosures and even a herd of Vyatka horses grazes and lives in freedom.
В ста километрах от Липецка, расположился красивый природный парк “Олений”. 1 500 гектаров парка используются для восстановления и увеличения численности редких и ценных представителей европейской фауны. В самом названии парка заложено – кто главный хозяин этих обширных территорий. Конечно, олень. Благородный и пятнистый олени прекрасно адаптируются к условиям местного климата. На красивых лугах, среди берёзовых пролесков можно также встретить европейскую косулю, европейскую лань, муфлонов, которые сюда завезены для адаптации и разведения. Здесь нет искусственных загонов и даже табун вятских лошадей пасется и живет в свободных условиях.
City of Lipetsk
John Dougan shared his impressions about this park and his first stops on a long trip across Russia. He also shared his plans and thoughts about Lipetsk and his journey with journalists:
– This is the beautiful city of Lipetsk. About 500 kilometres south of Moscow. Half a million people, it’s my first stop on my trip. And what a beautiful stop… Green everywhere, beautiful architecture, incredible parks.

– Этот прекрасный город Липецк располагается примерно в 500 километрах к югу от Москвы. Полмиллиона жителей, это моя первая остановка в моем путешествии. И какая великолепная остановка… повсюду зелень, превосходная архитектура, невероятные парки.
