The history of the forest\u00a0<\/strong>restoration\u00a0<\/strong>camp began in Baikal region with the initiative of people who are not indifferent to help\u00a0<\/strong>reforestation<\/strong>\u00a0after the devastating fires in 2015. Then burned > 1.5 million hectares, which is half the area of Belgium.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In autumn 2015, the first planting took place on the island of Olkhon, where there were huge\u00a0burned<\/strong>\u00a0areas. Camp volunteers decided to engage in the restoration of the Baikal taiga, because at that time they already had experience in forestation: since 2012, the volunteers\u00a0conducted\u00a0<\/strong>a traditional campaign in Irkutsk \u2018\u2018Plant a tree \u2013\u00a0Give Life to the Planet<\/strong>\u2019\u2019 in Kayskaya Grove (at the moment the project is completed).<\/p>\n

In 2016, camp volunteers raised funds on crowdfunding platform \u00abBoomstarter\u00bb, which not only planted a new forest, but also built an\u00a0effective fence<\/strong>\u00a0to protect the Baikal Riviera — Sarai Bay from the\u00a0spontaneous movement<\/strong>\u00a0of traffic on Lake Olkhon.<\/p>\n

Autumn\u00a0plantings\u00a0<\/strong>have become a tradition for camp volunteers, which unites people who are willing to work\u00a0for the benefit of nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Every year the camp volunteers check the results of their work. At the moment, the forests planted by the camp participants, safely grow on the territory > 80 hectares.<\/p>\n

This autumn the camp volunteers continue their work in cooperation with the Ministry of Forestry of Irkutsk region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is planned to plant trees experimentally in Slyudyanka district near the Snezhnaya River near the shore of Lake Baikal. The work\u00a0will be<\/strong>\u00a0carried out\u00a0<\/strong>from 24 to 28 September on a 10-year-old fire, where natural reforestation is very slow. At the moment, rarely growing\u00a0birch<\/strong>\u00a0trees began to appear there. Before the fire,\u00a0fir<\/strong>,\u00a0spruce<\/strong>,\u00a0pine<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0cedar<\/strong>\u00a0trees were growing there, and they will be planted by the camp team.<\/p>\n

In addition to \u2018\u2018field\u2019\u2019 work,\u00a0the 2020<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>camp is planned\u00a0<\/strong>to train in the skills of\u00a0careful handling\u00a0of nature,\u00a0acquaintance\u00a0<\/strong>with the concept of \u2018\u2018zero waste\u2019\u2019. Volunteers of the camp will share their experience in\u00a0sorting waste, discuss environmental problems and ways to solve them. It will be shown and told what everyone can do for nature of their native land. Each\u00a0participant\u00a0<\/strong>will personally live a small life with new eco\u00a0habits.<\/p>\n

Natalia Eremeeva, director of the\u00a0charitable\u00a0<\/strong>foundation \u2018\u2018Give Life to the Planet<\/strong>\u2019\u2019, has been\u00a0conducting classes\u00a0at the so-called \u2018\u2018school of leaders\u2019\u2019 for many years. There she\u00a0shares\u00a0her experience in organizing\u00a0environmental\u00a0campaigns and talks about how to\u00a0inspire\u00a0and organize volunteers, how to host such\u00a0campaigns\u00a0and create an ongoing project. At the same time, the school participants will\u00a0immediately<\/strong>\u00a0be able to try their hand as\u00a0foremen\u00a0and practice leadership\u00a0skills.<\/p>\n

In conclusion,\u00a0we would like to find out what is\u00a0voluntary reforestation?
\nFirst,\u00a0it is new forests planted with love.
\nSecondly,\u00a0it is\u00a0assistance\u00a0where it is\u00a0necessary, but for some reason these activities have not been included in the state plans to develop the ecological situation in the region.
\nThirdly,\u00a0it is education of a good\u00a0attitude<\/strong>\u00a0towards nature.
\nFourth,\u00a0it is an opportunity to realize your own desire to be useful.
\nFifth,\u00a0it is a good tradition that we need to\u00a0support\u00a0in our country.<\/p>\n
